Ben & Aja Blanc design and produce sculptural lighting, furniture and objects for the world’s most sought after interior designers and discerning consumers of contemporary design. Their objects are reflective of a rich personal creative practice - infusing their work with a stark, modern style paired with handcrafted technique. Each design is bespoke and customizable as well as partnered with distinct client attention. At the heart of the studio is the use of natural elements and rich materials creating work that celebrates design frisson – an elegant balance of beauty and functionality.
Ben & Aja Blanc have been collaborating on projects since their time together as graduate students at the Rhode Island School of Design. Aja Blanc brings her unique background in the fine arts and career in the museum profession, including the Yale University Art Gallery and RISD Museum, to the design process. Prior to their formal collaboration, Ben Blanc ran a successful design studio with works featured in numerous design publications including the New York Times, Dwell, Metropolitan Home, Monument, Casa and Elle Décor. Ben also serves as adjunct faculty in the department of Furniture Design at the Rhode Island School of Design. Together, their work and design process reflects a mutual pursuit of beauty through creation of form and refinement of material, along with a perpetual attraction to collection and curation. Their work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Vogue, Elle Décor and The New York Times.
They live together with their two daughters in Providence, RI.
